My little nudist

When we first moved in together and even sometimes now, Scott had a tenancy to walk around naked or in just boxers, or briefs... whenever the mood strikes. He also has a HUGE problem with crack, like plumbers do. It's awful, embarrassing and yes from time to time I throw stuff down the back of his pants because it irritates me to no end.

Adrien seems to have picked up on this style and in the spirit of being just like Daddy, has adapted to it and made it his own.

Poor Man

Today, Scott came home a bit late. He did yesterday, too. The difference is that today is the last of him coming home late. Instead he will be coming home very, very early. His company is starting a new job tomorrow that is way behind schedule because of our recent weather. Half of the crew will be starting work at 5 am and the other half will start at 1 pm. The 5 am crew gets off at 1 pm and the 1 pm crew gets off at 9 pm. Scott landed in the 5 am crew, which really in and of itself is not that awful. The awful thing is that because we live in Mt. Vernon now he has to get up at 2:30 am tomorrow and for who knows how long. He will be out the door by 3:15 and on his way to somewhere past the Ikea here. It is approximately an hour and a half drive for him. We knew something like this was going to happen eventually, I just feel so bad for him.

He works so hard to keep us a float and he doesn't do so well with being tired. I find him passed out in the wierdest places and in the weirdest positions sometimes. I feel awful. The problem is, is that at this point for me to go back to work, even just on the weekends, it would cost us more money than I could make at this point in time. We have one car, which he uses to get to and from work. I would have to take a bus, which is no problem, except that I would be busing two babies to daycare, to work and then back to daycare and home again. Or I could just work on the weekends and it would cost us too much in gas because of where we live. I do not have a degree yet so I would not be making enough money to make any of the options that we have available worth it.

I just am so thankful to have such a hard working, honest (mostly) and loving, caring man in my life. He is an amazing father. He loves his kids so much and they look at him with the most adoring and loving eyes I have ever seen. If he doesn't come home, they know it and they are sad, very sad little people. I don't know what I would do without him and I love him so much.

That's it... I just had to get all that off my chest. Thanks for reading.

On another note

I have been reading the Shutter Sisters blog lately and I love it. The images are moving, the tips are smart and the writing is good. Today they ask us to share a picture of something that has moved us deeply, no matter how small. My first instinct was my Grandmother, but I have no pictures of her... so my second instinct is my children. And, here they are...

The hands are Isabella's, just a few weeks after she was born. I was feeding her, looked down and wanted to cry they were so cute and perfect and beautiful.

These are Adrien's first steps. His walking was so amazing. He was nine and a half months old and so excited! All he could do when he reached Scott or I was scream with excitement and then turn around and do it again. I think this lasted an hour or so. It was so, so cool.

When I was younger the things that moved me were so much different. I can remember looking at my sister and thinking that he hair was so amazing. Brown, red, blonde, black all in one curly flowing mess. She of course hated it. But, that's what sisters are there for, to remind each other of the things that are beautiful and to tell you when your butt looks fat.

What has moved you or made you laugh lately?

oops!

Yesterday Scott and I continued the cleaning and were able to get so much done. The house feels wonderful, we are finally starting to get it to where we like it and are comfortable. We have decided to treat each other for Mother's Day and Father's Day on our anniversary next month instead of doing anything right now. So, while cleaning yesterday and running around with the kids we completely forgot to call my Dad and wish him a happy father's day! OOOPS!!

So, I called this morning and left him a message... hopefully he's not too upset. I did send a card at the beginning of the week, but he is out of town looking for a house because he is moving to Oregon. We will see.

washing windows

Today was spent washing the windows outside of the house. We don't actually have too many windows but they were really dirty. The house hadn't been lived in for quite sometime and they had just bug bombed it. There was so many gross things in the windows I just can't even go there. The outside of the house really needs a good power washing and fresh coat of paint... but that's not our job. So, instead we washed the windows and got rid of as many spider webs and hornets nests that we could. A lot of people in my and Scott's families are allergic to bees and living around so many bees nests and hornets and what not really makes me kind of nervous about Adrien. We don't yet know if he or Isabella are allergic. Scott had to get on a ladder and clean and scrub the top windows and I did what I could to try and keep Adrien from going up the ladder.

The difference was amazing! I can't even begin to tell you. I can see out the windows and it's a gorgeous view! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and my seeds that I planted about three weeks ago are growing!!! Growing like weeds, I can't wait to show you all.

ps my camera cord is coming in the mail this week. They didn't have any at the shops around here so I had to order one online.

a taste of summer... or spring

This last weekend was B-E-A-UTIFUL! In the mornings, though it was cold, you could see bits of sunshine peeking out of the clouds and hear the birds singing and all that fun nature type stuff that happens. As Scott put it to me after cleaning out the car early Saturday morning, "You know how when it is so quiet after it rains that you can almost hear stuff growing?" How sweet was that?! When he says stuff like that I know why I married him all over again. Right when I am about to feel like he doesn't notice little things or he feels possibly like I don't, he says something like that that just melts me.

This weekend was Izzy's foray into some serious 2 group foods. She ate some vanilla biter biscuits and had some peaches, oats and plums, I think it was. That girl knows how to eat! She loves food, she starts shivering and shaking when we put her in the high chair, and then she attacks the spoon like her life depends on it until the jar is gone, empty... not a single scraping of food left. It's amazing!

Now, today, Monday it is raining and not quite as cold as it has been. I am taking that as a good sign. Hopefully we'll be seeing summer soon.

It's Finally Friday!

Today, more than any other recent Friday in memory, makes me feel good. Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the new house. I don't know, but I am reminded of this song by George Jones and so I share the lyrics here...
Enjoy and sing like crazy because It's Finally Friday!!

got a hundred dollars smokin' in my billfold
I know I oughta save it but it's burnin' a hole
Right through my pocket and into my skin
Come Monday morning I'll be broke again.

It's finally Friday
I'm free again
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday
I'm outa' control
Forget the workin' blues
And let the good times roll.

I got a little sugar baby down the road
She's sittin' on a radio and rockin' on roll
We'll dance up a storm and later all night
We'll be workin' on doin' all the wrong things right.

It's finally Friday
I'm free again
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday
I'm outa' control
Forget the workin' blues
And let the good times roll.

--- Instrumental ---

Monday, I'll be hurtin with my head in a vice
Tuesday, I'll be wonderin' if I'll ever survive
Wednesday and Thursday, I'll be slowly tunin' in
Friday, I'll be revin' up my motor again.

It's finally Friday
I'm free again
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday
I'm outa' control
Forget the workin' blues
And let the good times roll.

It's finally Friday
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday
Forget the workin' blues
And let the good times roll...

Seriously, it's June not January

I am looking out my window and seeing gray, rain and clouds and wind. Lots of rain and lots of cold, very very cold. I understand that I moved to a cold and wet state, but come on! It's JUNE for cryin' out loud.

Anyway we are really cold here at the house as our only source of heat is a wood burning stove and we have no wood. We have asked around about wood but everyone who says they will get back to us, doesn't. We've called places and noone is allowed to give a definitive answer and we have been checking the classifieds, there is either nothing or a 7 cord minimum... at $135 a cord I just don't think that's doable.

Soo... if you live in Washington and you live near Mount Vernon and you know where we can get some wood... please please email me! We are freezing!
