Back Up

I feel like I should be rejoicing and doing more online now that we got hooked back up today. But, I just don't feel as attached to this computer as I once did. I have been out gardening, cleaning and setting up the house. It has been so nice to be able to feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of my day. At the apartment, even when I did a deep cleaning it just didn't feel like I was doing much. Now it is easier to see the reward at the end of my work day, and feel it, too! I have actually been going to bed so much earlier now that I have something to do with my day.

Anyway... we're back up now so current blogs will be posted and pictures coming soon. I still can not find my little cord, I am going to get another one tomorrow.

See ya'll later

internet sminternet

Goodness!! We are finally in our house, and we love it!! The space, the garden, the environment... OH it is such a wonderful thing!! I can not tell you the amount of relief that I feel knowing that Adrien can just go outside and play for once. It is worth so much more to me than anything else.

That being said, I am so frustrated with out internet provider!! I called before we moved to see if they offered service at the address where we moved and they typed it into the computer and said yes. So... I dragged my pathetic little modem thing around my entire house this past Tuesday looking for a signal and nothing, nada, zilch! So I call and they say "oh, we just tested that area last week and you don't get service there, you need to cancel your contract. It is going to be two hundred dollars." TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! WHAT THE HECK?!

Umm... no. So I explained quite nicely to this telephone operator that I refuse to pay that much when I had called and checked. I was told yes... blah blah blah... eventually this lady says well, let me see if I can get a supervisor for you, REBECCA. MY NAME IS JESSICA!!! Jeez. They can't even remember my name. I am still a paying customer the last time I looked at my checking account. So, she told me that a supervisor would call me that night.

The next afternoon I finally hear from someone, who is such a jerk that I have trouble imagining him in any employment for very long at all. After twenty five minutes of having to repeat myself over and over again because he kept asking me the same questions I finally told him that I would like to speak to someone who is actually physically capable of listening and responding to what someone is saying to them. I am sick of listening to people talk just to hear themselves, especially when it is a customer service oriented job! Finally I got through to someone who understood what was happening. I told them that I was willing to pay half the disconnection fee but definitely not all of it on account of I had called and checked and wasted my time looking for a connection. And that I had had to deal with two days of bad service from his people. He understood and gave me one better, YIPPEE!!! So, here I sit at my MIL's house for the weekend and am typing this hopefully as quickly as is possible, I am quite frustrated so please forgive my long windedness.

We now have to wait for a tech guy to come out to the property in two weeks to set up the new service, so I will be offline for quite sometime. I will update as soon as possible and as often as possible.

In the meantime I hope everyone has some good weather and enjoys the rest of spring. Have a great day!

The only reason I am inside right now is because the kids are going down for the night. Other wise, I would be outside in this gorgeous, gorgeous weather. It's sunny, no clouds and 73 degrees!

You want to know the really sick part? It actually feels hot. I guess I'm acclimated already.

quilting and packing

For the past few weeks I have been working on a quilt for Isabella. Yesterday the batting I ordered from came. I was so excited! The batting itself is beautiful. SO much better than the batting I have found here my area. It's thin 100% cotton and so so soft! The type of quilt that I did was really simple, but did challenge me considering it was my first one.
It was just an applique quilt and I think that looking at it now it could have been done easier and better. But you live you learn, right? When we get into our new place, I am going to make Adrien a quilt and then finally a quilt for Scott and I. I have already been hunting fabrics online and have found a few options here (in the indigo and aegan 46 colors) and here (the teal acanthus one). Also, this one looks good too. I can do up to five different fabrics on this quilt, but I think that might be a bit challenging for me. So I am going to keep it simple at three. I seem to be gravatating more towards the blues and greens and a few florals. I am tempted to ask Scott's opinion but that would be like asking a wall for something to drink. It just doesn't happen.

I was whole foods the other day and I saw this huge pile of artichokes. They were so big and beautiful that I couldn't resist. I don't even really love artichokes, we only have them a few times a year, but these were so pretty I just had to do it. I only got one because they were so big. But here is a picture of my beautiful artichoke.

I like to put some balsamic vinegar and a few spices in the water it helps add just a bit of flavor to th meat of the heart. And sometimes I cut them in half to cook faster, but I couldn't bring myself to do that to this one.

I would not say that that went bad or good. Just... went, I guess. The first house we ended up not even going in. It wasn't in the area that we thought and it didn't feel right to us. The second house, which was the house I was really hoping would work out was so much different from what we had expected and what the pictures implied. We got there and the house is tucked away behind the land lord's house and is really, really funky. Now, don't get me wrong, I love a little funk. But this I think just went too far. Really they need to do so much more work on the house. I can't believe that it is really livable as it is now. But, if they do the work that needs to be done, it might be worth staying in for a year. We are still debating. In the meantime I have appointments to look at other houses later in the week. And we are considering those options as well. So please just keep thinking about us and hopefully we'll land somewhere soon.

1 Month

In one month, my family and I will be moving to a different house. Our landlord has decided to sell this one. As frustrating as moving with two little ones is going to be, I am relieved. I have been wanting us to move for some time now. Our little two bedroom,1 bathroom upstairs apartment has not been very comfortable lately. Adrien needs a place to run around and I need a place to do my gardening and my crafts. I need a place to find my sanity again. A place to take a deep breath and know that in the end we are going to be able to buy our own house and build my dream kitchen, Scott's barn and my off house studio. Right now in this apartment, I feel like I might be suffocating. I read the letter from our landlord yesterday and felt a tremondous surge of relief and fresh air. Scott on the other hand has been a stress bug and I keep hearing him sigh with irritation and tiredness at the task ahead of us. I have already started packing. I hope that maybe together we will be able to get this moving thing done with as little hurt as possible. We sometimes have a tenancy to say things we don't mean when stressed out. I have already made two appointments for us on Sunday to look at some houses up the hill and hopefully one of them will work out. I really, really love the kitchen in one of them. Plus, they both have a yard, which quite frankly looks like a little slice of heaven at the moment.
On another note, I have been searching for my bike and think that maybe I found just the right one in my price range and am taking the day to think about it. I can't wait to be able to get out of this neighborhood with the kids. We can go to parks and have picnics and look around and be outside for a much larger portion of our day. The excitement is already running through my fingers and toes.

Thursday Morning

It is the morning here and I am sitting in my pajamas listening to Izzy yell at her toy and waiting for Adrien to wake up again. I am a bit worried this morning as Izzy has a bumpy rash on her forehead and in her hair. It looks similair to baby acne, but the bumps are much larger and there is not much coloration to them. When I called the doctor yesterday they said to keep an eye on it and I called again this morning to let them know it was getting a bit worse. Hopefully it is nothing and she will be fine, but I have this weird mom feeling that it just might need some looking at.
As I write that, my little boy has just woken up and is yelling at me through the door. His "Dada" is coming home today... for the last time! No more training for a while and I tell ya, I need the break. My bike is going to be looked at one more time until next weekend when I finally buy it! I am going to go see a movie by myself, unless we can get a baby sitter and then I'll be seeing it with Scott. Other than that, not much going on. I am making a quilt for Isabella and a nursing cover for a friend. Then I am going to make Adrien a quilt and finally one for us. I can't wait.
